There’s a few good points in the book that I think could’ve been turned into the bedrock of a more sustainable life for everyone. One key idea is to just eliminate and automate work that nobody wants to do. When you start thinking about productivity in a collective way, you start to see how much pointless busywork gets dumped on various people for no reason. Also, I have no problem with delegating and outsourcing tasks as long as you’re actually paying people well. For example, the Kardashian family is notorious for underpaying the media strategists and even landscapers who help them maintain their lifestyle. They could double those wages and still have vast amounts of wealth. So that’s my takeaway. Be less like that, and more like Dan Price. Maybe that’s tucked into the core of the Tim Ferriss philosophy, but I find that TF spends more time talking about it than actually doing it — which I guess is his thing.
