The "democracy is a work in progress" defense has been used to defend the status quo for decades now. There is absolutely no excuse for what we're seeing in our politics, and I find it ironic that you want to defend the word "democracy" while disregarding the very freedom of speech you claim to uphold. In that sense, you're no better than anyone else--just another hypocrite.
