I’ve got bad news.

Your son and daughter aren’t doing nearly as well as you think making “six figures,” because I also make six figures.

My guess is that they’re lying to you, and hiding any stress or anxiety they feel about the current world, because you clearly wouldn’t listen to them if they ever told you. No, you’d just launch into a rant like this one, filled with misleading statistics about how great life is.

Your kids might be doing okay now, but god help them when they try to start a family or move into a bigger house. That’s when reality is finally going to bite all of you in the ass. I hope you’ve got several hundred thousand dollars lined up for them to inherit, because they’re going to need every penny to survive the next decade. If you do have that much, then it’s a testament to your privilege, not your hard work.
