I’d say we still have to observe some of these rules, even if they’re arbitrary. I still just say “fine,” when people ask how I’m doing. If I really need advice, I initiate the conversation and give them a heads up.

There’s definitely a difference between being polite and being considerate. Sometimes they overlap.
