I think Rick was living the “House, M.D.” myth. Sure, some people have more talent and insight than others. But you can’t live on your own island when you work for a company. Every day, I have to call bull shit on myself and decide when something I’m working on is “good enough,” even though part of me insists that I could’ve made it a little better with more time. Pretty often, I’m forced to admit that someone else knows more than I know on a particular subject. That’s healthy. The Ricks of the world should remember that.
