I think AI and robot companions would be great for a lot of people. The problem is we’re dropping these technologies into our society and not doing a thing to manage the ethical consequences until it’s far too late, and even then we do a terrible job. Smartphones and social media are a great example. They offered us a lot of tools. By and large, we’ve used them in the worst ways possible.
