I always try to repair it first. In a lot of cases, you can replace almost anything that breaks down rather than having to get a whole new unit. My last desktop I put together from scratch. I'm hoping I never have to buy another case again. Of course, it's probably harder for someone who has to use really high end, taxing programs.
