I agree. At least at my university, we try to help students develop grit and we also try to cut them a break on attendance, late work, etc. Grit’s not an innate quality. I’ve seen students from comfortable backgrounds fall apart when they encounter difficulty. I also fell apart halfway through college as well, and had to come with with a way of getting through obstacles. Despite where it comes from, I think this could be a useful concept.
