Here’s some fun news:
Barely 5 percent of all plastic in America gets recycled. We threw away 51 million tons of it in a single year, 2021. Most of that went into landfills, even when it was allegedly sent overseas.
The plastic industry has been lying to Americans, telling them it was okay to eat yogurt from little plastic cups.
It was never okay.
Plastic is killing us.
Wake up.
This isn’t some stupid culture war.
It’s life and death.
We have islands of plastic floating in the ocean. It’s breaking down into microplastics, then it’s winding up in our food.
It’s poisoning us.
As demand for oil and gas drops, big oil is investing $400 billion to expand plastic production. They’re happy to dump 1 billion tons of garbage into our oceans, lakes, and rivers by 2040. Petrochemical companies produce tons of carbon. They produce tons of toxins. It’s causing cancer rates to skyrocket, especially in the poor black communities where they build their factories.
