As a party, Democrats need to get a lot smarter about how to get their message out. The reading I've done on the blue fizzle this year had a lot to do with not paying attention to public perception in key areas and taking practical steps to counter GOP smear campaigns. I was behind "defund the police," but in hindsight it was a great idea with a terrible slogan.
