Absolutely. The reason I strip the optimism out of pieces like this is because there's more than enough of that going around. Personally, I *do* hope Omicron turns out to be milder, even in terms of long Covid, but the absolute recklessness so many people are showing taints any reasonable degree of optimism. America has placed its entire future on a couple of early reports.
